Predictions of Very High Energy Γ-ray Fluxes for Three Active Galactic Nuclei

چکیده
M87 is the first extragalactic source detected at the TeV that is not a blazar. To account for the recent observations of M87 made by the High Energy Stereoscopic System (H.E.S.S.) telescope array, we developed a new multi-blob synchrotron self-Compton model. In the framework of this model, we present here the predictions for the very high energy emission of three active galactic nuclei with extended optical or X-ray jets which could be misaligned blazars, namely CenA, PKS0521−36 and 3C 273.

A test on external Compton models for γ-ray active galactic nuclei
There is clear evidence that the γ-ray emission from active galactic nuclei (AGNs) is attributed to the inverse Compton scatterings in the relativistic blobs near the massive black holes. If the soft seed photons are from the regions outside the blobs, a linear relation between (νFν,γ/νFν,synu ) and Doppler factor δ is expected, where νFν,γ and νFν,syn are monochromatic γ-ray and synchrotron fl...
متن کاملA Unified Model of Active Galactic Nuclei, Black Hole X-Ray Sources and Gamma-Ray Bursts
I consider models of active galactic nuclei, stellar-mass accreting black holes and microquasars based on a previously developed (Katz (1997)) model of gamma-ray bursts. When energy fluxes exceed a critical value ∼ 10 erg/cms, as in GRB, a black-body equilibrium pair plasma forms. At the lower fluxes found in AGN, BHXS and microquasars accretion power electrodynamically accelerates a small numb...
متن کاملAGN Observations in the GeV / TeV Energy Range with the MAGIC
MAGIC currently is the largest imaging atmospheric Cerenkov telescope world-wide. Since 2004, γ-ray emission from several active galactic nuclei in the GeV/TeV energy range has been detected, some of which were newly discovered as very-high energy γ-ray sources. The γ-rays are assumed to originate from particle acceleration processes in the AGN jets. We give an overview of the AGN observed and ...
متن کاملNeutrinos from active galactic nuclei as a diagnostic tool
Active galactic nuclei (AGN) are known as sources of high energy γ-rays. The emission probably results from non-thermal radiation of relativistic jets belonging to the AGN. Earlier investigations of these processes have suggested that neutrinos are among the radiation products of the jets and may be used to discriminate between hadrons and leptons as primary particles for the production of the ...
متن کاملScaling of Black Hole Accretion Discs from Gamma-Ray Bursts and Black Hole X-Ray Binaries to Active Galactic Nuclei
I consider how physical processes scale over eight orders of magnitude in black hole mass, from stellar masses in gamma-ray bursts (GRB) and black-hole X-ray binaries (BHXRB) to supermassive active galactic nuclei (AGN). Accretion rates onto stellar mass black holes range over more than sixteen orders of magnitude, from the lower luminosity BHXRB to GRB. These enormous parameter ranges correspo...
